A friendly, Natural Voice choir in the heart of the city
Plymouth Community Choir is a mixed-voice, a cappella choir led by Daisy Higman and is part of the Natural Voice Network.
We sing 3- and 4-part harmony songs, including traditional folk from the UK and around the world, jazz, blues, indie, pop and songs from Natural Voice Network composers. If it’s got a satisfying bass line or a crunchy harmony, we’ll give it a go!
There are no auditions, and everything is taught by ear - you don’t need to be able to read music or be an experienced singer (although it helps if you can hold a tune!).

What our singers say…
“Since joining the choir in September 2024, I have enjoyed every session and it’s been great to take part in some concerts. The choir has helped me to relax and feel grounded, letting go of the day-to-day stresses, whilst learning fun and quirky songs.” - Sam
“Daisy has made the choir her own, we are a mixed bunch of nice people (all ages) who relish singing all sorts and types of songs in a very relaxed and happy atmosphere.” - Sue
“I joined the Plymouth Community Choir in autumn 2024. The word 'community' won me over to choose this choir, having never been part of a choir in my adult years.
The choir has a community feel. Everybody is very friendly. We come from all walks of life having in common a passion for singing and wanting our voices to be heard.
Daisy is a very encouraging and enthusiastic choir leader. Everybody is welcome.” - Birgit
“I was so nervous to go along to my first session in Sept 2024 because I suffer with mental health and anxiety issues. I was petrified of walking into a new building and meeting new people. I wasn't even sure if I could sing!
I explained all this to Daisy by email, both her and her colleague were incredibly understanding and helped me with the initial process of walking through the door.
When other members of the choir started arriving, they were so friendly and made me feel so welcome I was able to relax and start to join in.
I feel very comfortable in that space now, singing with those lovely people and it gives my mental health a positive boost every week!
So if you are scared like me, all I can say is grasp onto that thread of courage for a few minutes to get you through that door, then before long, nothing will stop you from going to this warm, friendly welcoming group of people who make music sound quite heavenly when all singing together.” - Ruth
