Accessibility

Plymouth Community Choir is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible space. We follow the social model of disability. Please reach out to us if there is any extra support you need in the space.

Access to the venue

  • Wheelchair access is available into the church using the left-hand entrance next to the main doors (Notte St entrance). There is a ramp and metal grab bar up to the door at this entrance.

  • We keep the side door closed for security reasons. Ring the bell and someone will let you in.

  • Parking is available at the rear of the church. There are a limited number of free spaces available - please speak to Daisy if you need a permit.

  • The car park has a gravel surface, and although there is a short cut to the front gate through the gardens, this is not wheelchair accessible. There is a level access route around the side of the building.

Access during the sessions

  • Lyrics for all pieces are available in large print and on coloured paper. We use size 14pt font as standard - please ask if you need a different format.

  • Lyrics, sheet music and audio mp3 parts for all songs are also available via our dropbox. The lyrics are posted in .word format, whilst the sheet music is PDF. If you need these in another format, or if you cannot access Dropbox, please email us.

  • Straight-backed, lightly padded chairs are available in the church. These do not have armrests. Feel free to bring extra cushions if you need them.

  • If you need to move about, sit, or change position during warm-ups and rehearsals, please feel free to do so. Take care of what your body needs in the space.

  • Songs are usually conducted using a mix of hand signals and spoken instructions. Daisy audio describes everything she is doing during warm-ups and wears sparkly gloves to make her hands more visible, but if you need a different approach, please email us to discuss.

  • There are 2 accessible toilets at the back of the main congregation space (unfortunately there are currently no Changing Places toilets open in Plymouth during our rehearsal times).

Bring a Support worker for free!

If you need to bring a support worker, carer or personal assistant with you, they are welcome to join in with the session (in fact, we encourage it!). Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a support worker with you.
